Who are We?
Eastview at a Glance

Comfortable, safe, affordable housing for working people near or at retirement.

What We Are

Eastview is a co-operative housing corporation, founded in 1948, subject to Ontario’s Co-Operative Corporations Act.

Eastview is legally obligated to be administered by a Board of Directors, but actual decision-making power democratically derives from the will of the majority of the members.

Eastview is an adult building (members and occupants must be at least 30 years of age)

Sorry, no pets are allowed at Eastview.

Who We Are

Eastview’s residents consist of 15 members all of whom hold shares in the co-op. Therefore, Eastview’s members consider themselves not just tenants but owners, as well.

The residents of Eastview are not just accidental neighbours - renters of units in commercial property – but members of a cohesive community.

How We’re Financed

Eastview is debt-free and operating expenses and reserve fund are funded by the modest monthly maintenance fee required of all shareholders.

Purchasing a membership in Eastview is different from buying a unit in a condominium. In the case of a condo it is the unit which is purchased, while at Eastview the member buys a block of shares.

What We Offer

Comfortable, safe, affordable housing for working people near or at retirement.  The fact that many residents stay 25-30 years (the record being 57) is testimony to the success of Eastview’s model of administrative and fiscal self-sufficiency and community inclusion.

Amenities: Free laundry facilities. Green Bin program, annual fire safety inspection, central location  - on a major bus route; close to downtown Kitchener.
